Shop Chronicles
About This Site:
Over time, I'll be posting lots of different things here, but all will have something to do with building or making things, fixing them or taking them apart. I suppose you might call this my hobby, but I don't really produce anything on a regular basis or anything anyone else might actually want to own. I just like 'piddling' as someone I know once called it. Most of the time I'll just be taking pictures of things I build *for* the shop itself: shelves, work tables, lights, organizers, etc. That's usually what I end up doing with most of the time spent in here. (My friend, Josh, once suggested that I would become strangely nervous if anyone ever suggested I build something besides the shop itself. I think he's right.)

For example, I'm planning to document here the entire process of remodeling my shop. From pouring concrete for a new floor to building new work tables and designing a whole new system for organizing my tools. With each new improvement, I hope to show anyone who is interested the problems I find in how things are set up now and how I solve these problems with my own brand of household ingenuity.

On another note, it is very important to me that the content here be presented in a very clear, readable and easily-navigable way. There are a great many individuals out there who are willing to share some extremely helpful information. I appreciate these people and the time they invest in documenting their own ideas for consumption. However, my only complaint is that most seem to have no organizational or design sense when it comes to presenting that information on the web.

Finally, I will also be using the site to post a few essays about my grandfather. I'll write about how my mother's father was a role model to me growing up and hopefully post pictures of some of the things he built over the years.
